Report - Army Camp, Innsworth 12th July 2020

Hi All, first report here so probably not very good.
Just down the road from where I live there are the remains of some old military buildings. Nothing seems to be known about them, they aren't on any databases for instance even though they are only 1/2 mile from what was RAF Innsworth - Imjim Barracks NATO ARRC as it is now. They are certainly going to be demolished soon to make way for housing and a team from Oxford Archaeology has been recording them. What is a bit odd is that they are built at different angles not lined up neatly as you'd expect from the military.
The only history I have been able to find comes from a 2006 Archaeology report
"However, during the Second World War a number of structures were erected along the lane leading to
Drymeadow Farm, which lies to the immediate East of the study site. These structures
are not recorded in the SMR but comprise a number of military barrack- like
buildings with associated air raid shelters. Similar development of military buildings
occurred around Innsworth House Farm to the southeast of Drymeadow Lodge."

I've asked people who live round there and they don't know what it was for. I asked on a Facebook WW2 local group and no one there knew either. There was an AA battery about 1/4 mile away but it's not that.

Good 1st report. At least you tried to research which many dont. Id say its a good 1st report. Nice write up, cool snaps. Nothing wrong here.
