1. The History
Not much history around but this very long brick-built building is what used to be Attercliffe Tram Sheds. It was used for servicing the city’s trams when we had trams the first time around. The system closed on 8th October 1960, so this place has been derelict since the early 60s. The trams returned in 1994 in the shape of Super-tram costing £240 million pounds. Ironically a new Supertram depot sits just over the fence next to the old one.

The building is not that interesting but plays host to what can best be described as one long urban art gallery featuring some of Sheffield’s top graff artists (Coloquix, Mars etc).

2. The Explore
Not the most exciting of sites architecturally but the graff tends to be good. Hence pop in here when I get the chance every 12/18 months to see what’s new on the graff front. It’s an easy in here and a relaxed wander. The graff in the main shed has gone down hill a bit and the nice works by the big names (Coloquix, Mars etc) have, in many cases, been painted over with less meritous works. However, on this visit (my fourth over the years) I managed to find an extra bit of the site that I’d not seen before, making this revisit worthwhile.

3. The Pictures

Nice little pop-up gallery on the way in:

There's another building to the left as you're looking at the troll in the cage. Some heavy greenery to fight your way through though

Lol. Too true. It's taken me three visits to find the cage and adjacent building!
:D I know the feeling. It was only because some artist guy told me otherwise I'd have been clueless & thought there was just the main long building you first see. The other building has some lovely Stog stuff in if you're an appreciater of graffiti

I certainly am. An excuse to pop back down there!
