Me and a friend visited this hospital without a clue where it actually was. After hours of walking through woodland we finally happened upon it and were greated with quite a nice surprise. From seeing pictures and reports from others I was expecting mostly knocked down buildings with just a few outhouses.
The hospital itself was closed down a few years back after being dubbed Britain's "dirtiest hospital". It was an asylum as it's main function and also served some time as a naval hospital around the 40's. I have a friend who worked there as a nurse and she describes it as rather run down but not an unpleasant environment.
Anyway, below are a few shots from the day. Lots of flash was required as most of the buildings are fully boarded up. We made the mistake of not taking a torch... walking through pitch black corridors with just a flash bulb to guide us was quite freaky to say the least!
