hopefully a bit better report of whats there and deserted.

i explored over a few days, asking which bits are disused and which bits are inaccessible, and found a few interesting places.

shame i'm not a better photographer!

Used for physiotherapy, when I broke my leg as a kid they had me hobble over stairs like these to get me moving and to get ready for 10 weeks of leg in plaster.

it sure is. it was a in-patient hospital until about about 3 years ago, when the nhs trust who own it decided everything should be on 1 site, not bensham, and built a new wing at the queen elizabeth hospital, also in gateshead.

there is still a day hospital and some out patient clinics, but otherwise its just offices. at least half of the site is just locked up and left, which is what i like to see, and the fact half of it is still open means that the pikeys and scallys cannot destroy it.

if it closes entirely, we'll take a spy!
