Been a while since I've posted anything, so here goes
Originally Birkwood House, a stately home built in 1819 with alterations made in in 1858 and a new wing added in 1890. Birkwood became a psychiatric facility in 1923 latterly accommodating children with learning difficulties until its closure in October 2002.
Planning permission is now being sought for redevelopment of Birkwood into a 28 bedroom hotel with leisure facilities and new housing to be built on the surrounding parkland.
