Started off a European UE tour with something easy peasy but quite interesting nonetheless. [Many more good locations to come]
The Bloso outdoor pool is the largest of it's era at an impressive 50m x 100m by 1.6m deep. It was designed by architect Charles Van Nueten and completed in 1939, with it’s characteristic glazed brick and horseshoe cafeteria on pillars. The original flat roofs that adorned the buildings on either side of the pool where replaced with slightly sloped zinc roofs in 1957.
Even with the addition of a filtration system in 1955, the pool closed in 1978 because it couldn’t meet modern health standards.
