The Explore............
Following an early morning fail at a site, we explored a couple of other sites, this being the last explore of the day, visited with Camera Shy.
A Bit of History...............
Not much information could be found but another glimpse of an old Victorian reservoir near Chorley before it disappears forever; similar to the old Leyland Reservoir at Clayton-le-Woods which was opened to the public for a couple of weeks before it disappeared to make way for new homes late 2013.
The reservoir – was constructed to hold about 250,000 gallons and was probably built around the late 1800’s to provide storage for clean water for the local area. It is the oldest and maybe the last surviving example of brick vaulted reservoir construction in this Lancashire area.
Most of the reservoir is below ground level and there is little shown above ground to indicate that it even exists.
Few people have seen inside this one - I’m just one of the lucky few……………Cheers
