The hospital, built off Eaves Lane, Bucknall was created in 1886 for the treatment of smallpox in Hanley, Stoke
and Longton. Even then, however, the smallpox problem was declining and as new wards were added it became an isolation hospital treating all infectious cases in North Staffordshire.

In 1953 some wards were given over to the care of the aged sick. It is now the main centre for geriatric care in North Staffordshire with outpatient and physiotherapy departments and one ward solely for pneumococcus victims. The hospital is set in its own pleasant grounds and commands good views of the area.It is a well regarded institution in the neighbourhood. The change from isolation to geriatric care reflects the considerable improvements in local health standards over the last century.

The hospital closed in 2010 and is now being demolished to make way for housing.

Visited with a few friends, we will be going back for more internal exploring and photos. I've been keeping my eye on this place for a long time as I drive past it every day.

I've edited out the broken links at the bottom of the thread as you were trying to post more images than the forum will allow.

There is rarely a need to post 20+ images of any site, especially when 95% of them are external shots.

Best option is to choose 10 - 15 of the best shots, post them then add a link to the remaining photos, most people will get bored of scrolling through that many photos (unless it's the most epic site ever seen), but for those inclined, a link to the rest of the images will be available for those who wish to see more.
