Hi all,

New member, long time lurker...

Some pictures taken today of the long abandoned Butterhouse tunnel on the old Micklehurst goods loop line between Stalybridge and Diggle, Saddleworth.

I realise others have been posted, these are mine......

The spur off the main trans Pennine line....

It' s a good little mooch, an ideal place to experiment with long exposure pics and light painting.

nice pics maybe you want to check out its twin sister tunnels :thumb

Lol! If you mean the four Standedge tunnels I have been through all of them, including walking through all three rail tunnels, even going so far as driving a Ford Capri through one of the old single track ones to Marsden and back way back in 1979.....(track removed of course).

The funny thing was there was a policeman (in uniform) wandering around at the Marsden end, and he never batted an eyelid as I merged from the Eastern portal, in fact he even waved to me. Those were the days...

Sadly the entrance is now all blocked off...:(

Got a cracking rechargeable one, from B&Q, or as I call it "B ugger off & Q ueue up" about half a million candle power it is.
Worked well in several railway tunnels,...If only I had it when I walked through Woodhead New Tunnel in 1993.
