HISTORY

The mine was developed on two veins possibly associated with the Hafan fault. Recorded working at the mine is very late in relationship to other mines in mid-Wales. And was being worked on a number of occasions from 1882 to 1916, producing 1240 tons of lead ore and 99 tons of zinc ore.

THE VISIT

1. View down towards Shallow adit stooping

2. Stooping in the Shallow adit. Not advisable to vross the water - its a false floor under there

3. A big hole covered by planks gives access via the rotting ladders to the Intermediate and then Deep adits. Distance from top to Deep adit level, circa 175 feet

5. Flooded winze on Shallow adit level. Deep, with a false floor so assumed to be even deeper. Could be up to 150 odd feet deep going on the access to lower adits
