Report - Cement factory, Magheramorne, Northern Ireland: June 2021

I know very little about this location or the history surrounding it except that it was a factory used to produce cement. At one stage, game of thrones was also filmed on the land nearby but since then it has laid empty and crumbling. I explored in June 2021 and spent a few nice hours sitting on the top of the big concrete tanks, soaking up the rare Northern Irish sun.

I'm Northern Irish yeah. I usually explore alone but am not opposed to others coming along.

Looked to be a rather sizable works in its time.

Opened 1914, closed to production in 1980. Operated by a subsidiary of Blue Circle Cement through most of its life.

Had about 4 Kilns during its life; Kiln 1 (Built by FLS, Closed 1978), 2 (Built by FLS, Closed 1930s), 2B(Built by Vickers, Closed 1978) and 3 (Built by Vickers, Closed 1980) with 2B and 3 similar to the Shoreham examples.
All coal fired wet-process (Slurry fed) kilns.

It continued operation as a grinding mill until 1984 and then import only afterwards.

Looks like only the grinding mills and export warf remain.
