We had this place as a B-tier-ish location if we had enough time on our summer trip. One of the friends I went on the trip with visited it back in 2019/2020 when the control room was still accessible and the entry and the time involved too much crawling through coal dust for him to attempt it again. There was also a disturbing lack of photos from the place over the last two years, so we were a bit suspicious.

People have gone over the history many times on this forum, so I'm gonna just skim through it for completeness. The power plant was in place of a former coal mine in the late 60s with two 125MW coal-fired blocks. In the 70s, the power plant got expanded with one large 250MW block (which seems to be a trend in the 50s and 60s west European power plants for some reason). The older blocks got shut down in the 90s and some of the technology was dismantled, primarily on the boiler side. The turbines were left behind and the boilers-facing wall of the turbine hall was sealed with blue sheet metal. Almost ten years ago, the plant stopped production and served as a reserve for a couple of years before being shut down for good.

Our explore was, for the most part, uneventful. Two of my friends went ahead while I and my other friend were contemplating not going. We eventually went for it since our recon party got inside. Inside it was quiet for two or three hours, and then we started hearing French voices below us. It was hard to tell if it was outside or somewhere in the turbine hall, so we quietly packed our stuff and made our way out. We got out without any problems. I still don't know what or where those voices came from, but I'm pretty sure the voice came from the outside and got in through a door on the ground floor in the turbine hall. Welp, it doesn't really matter now.
