I was working in Belgium for three weeks after Easter and I read various reports of places to visit in Belgium to explore, the Chambre du Commerce being on top of the list.
Visited with two non-member friends who drove from London to meet me and explore several places in Belgium. We spent almost four hours here and met a really nice, friendly German couple exploring the site a second time. When they left we then had this amazing place to ourselves for four hours before heading to Brussels.
From what I can research (my French/Flemish is next to useless) the current building dates to 1872 although my understanding is that it is located on a site dating to 1531 having been burnt down twice before. It was used as stock exchange but was closed many years ago. It’s hard to believe something like this been abandoned in a busy settlement in the middle of Belgium!
The main hall is definitely the master piece but there are hidden gems throughout this place!
