The square 'donjon' is build and is used for prison. Inside the top of the tower there's a opportunity for starling to nest which is unique for Belgium.
15th century
The castle is getting build, and becomes one of the important castles in the country. Emperor Karel had even lived there for some months in the year 1555.Also Willem van Oranje have lived there when he was at war against the Spanish people.
19th century
The castle was reconverted Under orders of Aloysius de Fierlant. A coach-house and rooms for the crew was build, also a new wing was build against the old one. The 9ha becomes a modernistic landscape with pools and a hunting pavilion and green-houses. They even build walls around the 9ha.
20th century
In 1974 the castle got protected for the piece of nature and historical heritage. In 2001 It got promoted to historical monument. But that doesn't retain it to decay and rot. The park is in poor condition; the coach house partially collapsed and within the castle was recently found Plunder. The situation of the castle area is a disgrace.
