I think this place is seriously overlooked by a lot of people. It's simply stunning. Rare features include an almost fully intact 'tub hall' with conveyors, lifts, tipping equipment and a network of rails used to move the empty and full coal tubs between the railway loading area and the Hesketh pit. Also a 'first' for me was doing one of the winding houses, a 1950s looking building virtually intact inside.
Joined by Alias, LittleEvlis and Zero, it was an excellent explore, especially since we managed to climb two of the headstocks in the evening sun. Entertaining highlights included me getting stuck upside down on a fence, watching Zero try and stamp on Alias' nuts and listening to Elvis getting totally wound up with the other two!
Big thanks to Alley for the help getting in.
