Circus Circus is a former nightclub that closed down in 2006 - whilst not much can be found online about the site the building has some history to it, opening as the Spencer Arms in 1931 and then Monroe's in 1989. Currently, the site is for sale at £375000, with proposals for a residential development on the site subject to a change of use application. However it is doubtful that it will sell anytime in the near future, as it has been for sale since at least 2009.

The club is in quite a sorry state now, the offices upstairs have almost a dangerous smell to them, and carpets across the building are covered in mould. As the most recent report I can find on here is from 2010, it is difficult to see how the state of it has progressed over time, but it seems that vandals have had their fair share of smashing it up since then.

Visited with @ShutterBug and @Jxm3st_, we have had our eye on this for a while so when the opportunity arose we were quick to take it. The building as it stands is set back from Ferensway, with fencing all around a yard that is scattered with building materials. Access was fairly easy although we were nearly spotted by what looked like a security guard on the way out, we legged it to the other side of the site and took the long way home in case we ran into him... Other than that we had no trouble from anyone, although the proximity to Ferensway means you can hear cars and people going by which can be quite disconcerting as we found when we thought we could hear others inside.

The inside is nearly completely boarded up meaning you can fire your flash and shine torches at will (we went under the cover of night), however in the offices upstairs some windows are open to view and some boards do not cover the whole window, so you might be caught out if it is in fact patrolled by security as we thought.

We started in the function room upstairs, however I didn't really get any decent photos in there myself. This is the landing next to the function room with the stairs leading down.

We then went to some office type area upstairs which had a very creepy feel to it, almost as if someone was living there

@ShutterBug should be following up with some of his own photos, look out for them too!

Overall a very interesting visit if not a bit spooky, definitely one ticked off the list...

Hope you all enjoyed reading!
