Right. This place is a proper dump and has definitely seen its best time long ago. There is a nice room or two, some lovely staircases and the view from the roof is sweet but unless you’re in the area this probably isn’t really worth an effort. We bumped into a couple of homeless living there, they were more scared of us than anything else but I still wouldn’t recommend going there on your own. Went with Luke_Takes_Pictures, TapeHead, JasperB and Mr_I_Saw_123.

The art deco Co-op, or Scottleys as it’s also called, was a large department store established in the 1930s and got closed down somewhen in the late 1980s. There have been plans to demolish the building for some years now but it’s met with quite some local opposition. Not sure what the current status is.
