This building is stunning, no other way to describe it! From the outside it looks like many of the other Scottish asylums, but once inside it does not take long to tell it was once a fine country private residence. The central staircase is of marble construction and is jaw dropping. I'm amazed it has survived in such immaculate condition!!! Elsewhere in the building fine doors and fireplaces are commonplace. One room, which has been devided up into 2 wards, was once a large room, possibly a dining room. The way it has been devided up is barbaic to say the least, with fine paneling covered over with ply:crazy
