Crewe Diesel Maintenance Depot
Evening all, another railway related report, I know 2 on the same day but I've been doing a lot of these recently! This report is looking mainly at the locomotives stored here at Crewe Diesel aswell as a look at the shed itself, things have changed at Crewe since the last reports from Dempsey and True British Metal, a lot of the locomotives have since been moved round to the front of the depot to be either scrapped or refurbished for future use with Colas Rail. The depot itself has been closed a while now and although I'm not too sure of an exact date I know it's been around 10 years at least, the depot is used for storing surplus rolling stock only these days. Sadly I couldn't get inside the shed for the 60's so maybe another visit is on the books
Enough ranting from the anorak now, time for the pics!
Ok then, before we head inside the depot here's two shots of two of the stored brush type 4's on site:
47847
47767 'Resolve'
Heading round the back of the depot now, you will bump into these old RES Parcel Coaches and Driving Van Trailer.
Round the back of the depot we have the two Stars of the show, 56077 'Thorpe Marsh Power Station' & 58022 along with some Mk1 Carriages.
Inside the cab of 56077.
And the Generator Room of 56077.
The Shed itself
The Cab of 58022
And finally a shot of 58022 with the DMD in the background.
And that's yer lot! More pictures to come on my flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/57652513@N05/
Cheers for reading, I hope you enjoyed the report
