I Have been meaning to photograph this area for a while.
The viaduct at crigglestone is absolutely magnificent and was built in 1909 from blue brick, it crosses the A636 denby dale road.

Also on the site are the remnants of the colliery narrowgauge railway and the crigglestone to horbury curve, closed in 1991.

Crigglestone curve- crigglestone to horbury line:

This line was opened in 1902 and is also known as the horbury west curve, it is 1 3/4 miles long and passenger traffic stopped in 1961 with freight continuing till 1991. In its latter days it was regularly used by the royal train.

The main feature of this location is the beautiful 19 arch viaduct, built out of blue industrial brick:
