Story and Picture by the Stooges: Niteskye, Moss Man and Captain Jack Research /Recon by Niteskye.
For many years a large rural area depended on the power from 2 sister power plants located within ½ mile of each other. One started as a coal fired and was converted to oil, the other a Nuke. Towards the end of their tenure the nuke plant provided live steam to drive the conventional one. Both where deactivated during the early 90’s. The nuclear part of the facility is pretty much gone except for a well guarded fuel rod storage area. What’s left of the other is in the process of having its equipment stripped out and sent overseas. All the lights are still on inside and the power grid is humming, There is still an active control room inside tied to and controlling some parts of the power grid. After considerable recon by Niteskye we learned that security was thin in the pre dawn hours.
With some of our members hitting the road as early as 2:30 AM we arrived on site during a heavy fog with it just starting to get light, but still well before dawn.

This is what an old school power station controls looked like in the days before computerization. This baby is still in control of some parts of the grid.

This decrepit concrete structure had a tunnel inside that appeared to head toward where the reactor had been, for obvious reasons, we decided to pass .
