Built in 1829 and established as a fine cloth manufacturer in 1919, Dobroyd Mills complex stretches just under 10 acres. The mill closed in 1974 but reopened in 1976 under John Woodhead Ltd Spinners. Until recent years, 2011, parts of the site were used for small businesses such as a classic car restoration firm and a tea rooms. Planning permission to knock down two sections on the northern end of the complex was granted by Kirklees Council in 2012, but being there in 2019 this hasn't happened. The stone structure was deemed unsafe for modern use. All of the small businesses which were there aren't there anymore and the entire place is derelict.

There are some interesting small details still left within the mills, from filed paperwork which dates back to the 60's, machinery older than me and 2012 NUTS magazines (remember eh!).
Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area or close by, plenty of different entry points and the only security comes from the youths kicking around trying to claim the place- no bother, just annoying.

The mini waterfall located to the back of the building! Runs underneath the building, can be seen through a huge hole in the floor in the room leading up to this window ledge.
