Report - EastEnd House, Lanarkshire - June 14

Visited with The Stig, H1971 and Skapunkmetalskater

This was our second site for our mini Scotland trip, H1971 has been previously and the Manor house has gone down hill considerably, floors missing, rooms not accessible due to fallen roof, ceilings etc. But still a bit to see.

Set in among the land holdings of the Carmichael estate, one of the few remaining clans to maintain ownership of the same lands as their ancient ancestors, Eastend House is a lovely 37 room stately home spread over 4 floors and is built around a 16th century keep with extensions and additions being added in various styles giving the building a bit of a mis-matched appearance. Originally occupied by an exile branch of the Carmichael family who split from the main trunk in 1500 it was passed down through the second branch of the family until being bought and brought back into the main family by Chief Richard Carmichael in 1989.

Excellent report! The building might have deteriated but it must be far enough away for the local kids not to trash it or metal thieves!

I'd heard they are now in the Carmichael visitor centre but may well be wrong...

I take it the stairs in Picture One are 'Front of House' and the ones in Picture Seven the 'Back Servants Stairs'

Cracker! That shot of the crib is my favourite.. Probably because it reminds me of some sort of Rosemary's Baby type scene.. ha.
