OK – so this one’s a little bit different. Grouping a number of places together that would otherwise have resulted in a number of seperate reports. With three mornings to explore Liverpool and armed with loads of pins ( cheers @Bikin Glynn !) it turned into something of a fail-fest. It was down to a number of factors. Several places had been sealed up; I was exploring on my own plus the weather on two of the mornings was Goddam awful. Ironically, the first place I tried was a success (The Deaf Institute – report HERE ) as was Heap’s Rice warehouse (Report HERE ) on the final morning when I met up with @urbanchemist In between, it was wall-to-wall fails. Hence grouping the pictures up here.

Sometimes things are like that...

1. Protestant Martyr's Memorial Church
Had two shufties at this place. Both days it was chucking down with rain and both ended in failure. Even struggled to get any decent externals. See the report by @UrbandonedTeam HERE to see what I missed.

2. Central Hydraulic Tower, Birkenhead
This place became something of a go to place about 10 years ago when it was something of a right-of-passage to go up THAT staircase to the top of the tower. I didn’t even get in the building. To see what I missed see @tweek and their excellent report from August 2011 HERE

Here’s a few externals as it pretty from the outside:

3. Littlewoods Building
So wasn’t too optimistic about this place post the fire but banked on getting into the air-raid shelters at the very least. Failed on both counts as the latter had been freshly resealed so double failure here. See @urbanchemist and his staggeringly good reports on the main building HERE and Air-raid shelters HERE

3. Welsh Presbyterian Church, Toxteth
Derped to f*ck but worth a look given it was just across the way from the Deaf Institute. This place had “benefited” from a step up in its perimeter fence making it a bit too much to tackle in the rain. Shame as despite being pretty far gone, it still has its charms. Here see @Degenatron and his report from February 2012 HERE

4. Docks Around Bootle

Lot’s of empty buildings here. Shame I didn’t get time for a proper look at some of them.

I'll never forget that staircase/ladders up to the top of the hydraulic tower, gives me shivers just thinking about it.

Just for information I’ll add a few words about what a couple of these places you took photos of actually are/were:

The little red brick tower in Birkenhead was an accumulator tower for the capstans at the entrance to the Morpeth Docks.
The last time I looked all sides were secure at ground level.

The ‘old warehouse on Dickinson Street’ is actually the Bonded Tea warehouse on Dickson Street, still in use as a warehouse.

The ‘derped warehouse on Brunswick Place’ has pictures of two of the three warehouses in this area (Merseyside Food Products, Engine Works and United Mersey Supplies), all accessible.

Of the rest the only one I know, as of a couple of months ago, is not currently doable is the Victoria Clock Tower.
You could get into most of the others if you really wanted to, but I wouldn’t bother with that pub.

Nice photos!

Spotted the work going on at central hydraulic tower last weekend - it will be nice to see it used once again, that spiral staircase is a beaut.

I nipped into the Wellington Rooms a few weeks ago, think a couple of homeless people were kipping inside. Waiting on my film being developed but got a few snaps on my phone.
