History
The Greenbank Drive Synagogue was built in 1936/7 and is the work of the notable Liverpool architect Sir Ernest Alfred Shennan. Most of his other work is also in Merseyside and comprises a diversity of building types. His inter-war designs included Westminster Banks; five cinemas including the listed Forum Cinema on Lime Street, Liverpool; restaurant interiors (The French Café and Arabic Café, both 1933, Liverpool); dance halls (The Grafton Rooms, Liverpool, 1934); hotels and office blocks. Greenbank Drive is Shennan’s only synagogue and is very different to the rest of his oeuvre up to that time which, apart from the banks, was distinctive art deco.

Nice to see it pop up again, sadly it looks a little more trashed and tagged, such a shame!

Hopefully the council will step in and seal it up again

Nope still there but had blinds up at time haha access is still there luckily on the left side of building

I went there today and the gypsy man was there (he was high lol) he let us into the building but we had a bad feeling and didn’t actually end up going in (there were other people locked in there?? It was really weird and we didn’t trust it)

he Didnt ask for anything but we reckoned that he was maybe going to steal from us (we had a camera n stuff) and there were a group of people locked into the synagogue who started coming towards us when we went in
