The Blast furnace B at Ougrée, the last to be build in the province of Liège, was started up on 15 February 1962.
Considered at the time to be the largest blast furnace in continental Europe, it is located on the banks of the Meuse.
This 81-metre-high colossus produces almost 2,000 tonnes of cast iron a day as soon as it is fired, bringing the Cockerill-Ougrée company into a new era, that of giants at the forefront of technology.
This is the first and last time that we will visit this steel monster because the demolition is progressing very quickly.
