Hi Guys,

I thought i would take a look on the harbour side of the industrial estate/railway line near the Cordite Factory at Holton Heath. Took a while to get across/access and had to climb three fences and go through a private estate....still i had an itch i needed to scratch. Yet again i found quite a few bones!!

Thought about keeping this....

Me too i reckon. There are a number of padlocked doors built into bunkers/storage facilities just on the area East of the industrial estate too. Might pop back on Saturday to check out 1-2 more old buildings - (albeit they are fairly small).

Fascinating Woolley, thanks for posting! The bones are quite disturbing, almost reminded me of a documentary I watched on Pripyat a while back, I found one large spine with front leg bones when at Holton Heath Saturday, quite big so was thinking Fox, Badger or Deer. The Stag skull with antlers is actually quite nice, nothing wrong with that sort of thing as it's not like you hunted it.

Are the circular brick structures the underground reservoirs? I found the tank hut (F4) on the north side, but of course they are only two 7ft tanks.

It really is an interesting and sprawling place, have you visited the Antiques place too? I wanted to but time was ticking and I had to get back plus was a long way from where I parked.

Nope the underground resivours are huge i mean absolutely massive. If you look on google maps you will see a half circle of concrete thats where they are side by side now u just have to find the hatches :)

The circular brick structures were the filter beds for the sewage works. Odd as it may seem, on one visit in the 80's, a structure adjacent to them was occupied by a nice couple of chaps sleeping rough! If you go down to the shore area of the dump, you can sometimes find failed vinyl record pressings which date from the time that Decca was on site (50's-60's).
