This is Horsbere Brook. It runs off Birdlip Hill near Cheltenham, down through the Gloucester suburbs of Brockworth, Hucclecote and Longlevens before spilling into the Severn. The people of Longlevens are no longer friends with it, after it made their houses very wet during July 2007. Bad brook!!

As it passes under the M5 at Jct 11A, a series of three culverts start. They’re not too long or exciting, but worth spending and hour or two in your waders if you’re passing.

Visited with Courageous. Some pics:

This one had a walkway on the north side, and these islands in the brook – presumably to slow it down a bit

#1, under the M5 junction itself. Just straightforward concrete sections.

Interestingly, there are two tunnels here, the culvert at river level, and a walkway on top of it. The walkway is gated up at both ends, but dull inside anyway.

Not worth going out of your way for, but easy enough if you’re around.
