This had been on the cards for a little while and eventually got round to looking into it in December. Other then Battersea Id never done a power station before and Kingsnorth definitely didn’t disappoint. Having shut down less then a year ago its pretty much in mint condition and when we first got in not much work had been done stripping it out, so all the power was till on and all the lights till worked. Unfortunately a lots now been stripped out of the control room but it was an epic place to see.

Kingsnorth power station is a 4 turbine dual-fired power station in Kent, built between 1963 and 1973 on the site of a former WW1 airship base by the central electricity generating board. Its 4 turbines produced 1940mw of electricity until 17th December 2012, due to the EU's “large combustion plant directiveâ€, and officially closed in March 2013 leaving just 20 decommissioning working at the plant.
In October 2007 6 Greenpeace protesters famously broke into the site and climbed the chimney and absailed down the side and painting “GORDON†in big letters, supposedly causing £30,000 worth of damage! In the trial they were acquitted after arguing their actions were justified as they were trying to shut the station down to prevent further damage to millions of other property’s through global warming!!
Iv read various rumours about the future of the site but so far it seems unclear what the future holds for this amazing building.
