The Copyhold Works between Redhill and Nutfield in Surrey was closed in 1997 and the quarry is now a busy landfill site. Fullers was bought by La Porte Industries in 1954. Fullers Earth was used in cat litter amongst other things and there are still quite a few kitty litter bags strewn around the building.
Visited with Catullus. On our entry to the site we saw a few kids sneaking in, but once we were in we couldn’t see them any more. An hour or so later, the building was filled with noises (smashing, thumping, banging etc). The kids we’d seen going in had been joined by their friends and there were now 7 or 8 kids smashing stuff up and making a hell of a noise. They broke every window they could find, and even broke some of the side of the building off (I saw them running at it and kicking it). They were nice enough when we spoke to them, but the noise they were making concerned us as it could be heard from the road.
