The following set of photos were taken in March 2000 of the ROC post near Lutterworth in Leicestershire.

Shortly afterwards the site was demolished and buried beneath a mound of earth as part of building works that were taking place at nearby Magna Park.

This post was is 'as left' condition - never having been cleared out at standown, hence why I think these pictures are worth sharing.

My apologies for the poor quality of some of the shots but this was pre-digital days for me and it wasn't much of a camera, plus it was dark.

The story behind this site remaining intact appears to be that when the RAF officer charged with clearing it out arrived he found he didn't have the right key to open it. He went away again, never to return.

The post remained just as the last observers had left it.

Shortly after these pictures were taken the access hatch and other surface features were bulldozed and the rubble dropped down the shaft. A huge mound of earth was then raised over the site.

Nothing was removed from the post so perhaps an interesting find for some future Time Team crew?
