This is a rare survivor in the form of a master hosiers house and attached workshops, dating from around 1850. It has been in a dilapidated condition for as long as I can remember, and sadly before our visit much of the contents was thrown into a skip. The buildings were last used by John Carr Doughty, who designed knitting machines and techniques and made quite a name for himsef back in his day. The only reminders of this mans work here consist of a few bird poo splattered boxes of paperwork, with his private numberplates sitting beside them. It was a shame the place was much more empty than it used to be, but was still good to finally crack the place.
