Not a lot. The developer who bought it faced opposition to redevelop the site, retaining only a few bits. The locals lived this fanciful dream that the whole lot could be restored back to how it was back in the day. This was still 5+ years after the slate had gone. So in the end all attempts (not helped by the poor access road up to it) in getting planning failed.

Fast forward 10 or so years and the whole lot is falling in on itself and you'll not hear a peep from the local opposition group.

Looks like its really started falling in on itself last 12 months. Lots of roof collapses since I last was up there last summer.

Yeah that’s all evaporated. Mr Collins would happily sell to anyone but nobody wants a site where planning permission is nigh on impossible. The access roads are just not good enough to support any project there that would be financially viable. Similar to Barrow Hosptial in a way but the owner there was allowed to build some.

At some point the council will CPO it for £1 and take the hit of clearing the land and probably returning it back to farm land

Yeah I can remember it was a climb involving pallets and all sorts! Just dug the pics out from 2010 as was curious how long ago it was - April 2010 to be exact

Hope you don't mind me using your pics just so could see side by side how it's changed over 11 years

Can't imagine it will be long before someone goes to far and falls thru a floor :(

Such a shame all the tiles are gone, so much would still be semi intact if there were still some roofing left, I think I read somewhere the owner striped them and sold them for a lot of money, such a shame. Went there today and managed to get in, still brilliant but sadly so much is just way past gone and I really didn't feel brave enough to venture to the upper floors (what's left) as it's all about to collapse any minute.
