Murrays Post is a gun emplacement linked to the Godwin Battery at Kilnsea on the Holderness coast. This one is very hard to find completely concealed in a hedge.
I walked straight past the place. when you look under the hedge this is what you see.
At first glance it looks like a large pillbox. but this would have had a large gun mounted on the roof. Unfortunatly i was unable to access the roof as it is heavily overgrown.
A set of steps lead down into the bunker.
These lead down to a corridor that runs around the perimeter of the bunker.
Another set of steps lead down into the central room possibly the magazine due to the thick concrete inner walls.
Unfortunatly exploration of this area was made impossible by deep flooding.
View from Murrays Post towards The Godwin Battery.
At the bottom of the hill is the entrance to the tunnel which leads to the Godwin battery. It is barely visible due to being partially blocked up.
The tunnel slopes down approx. 10ft. then levels out.
At this point the tunnel is flooded. I think diving gear would be needed to explore this one.
Not the best of explores but worth a look if you are in the area.
