Liked the look of this place from the few reports I had seen. So after spending Christmas in Scotland, I thought if the weather was nice I would give it a look. Driving down the M77 it was a beautiful sunny day. But as I headed over to Hawick the weather changed dramatically. I only walked up the road, looking for an entry point which I walked past the first time. By the time I got in I was soaked. The place has been fairly smashed up, but spotted only one bit of graffiti. The building consists of a nice office block out front, and the working area at the back. The working area is a single storey construction. The water was pouring in here. The office block was three storey high with a tower and spiral staircase. The finishing works was established in 1911 and a concrete extension was built in 1920, this was later demolished along with the chimney. The office block is an early version of proto modernist style designs. N Peals took over the site in 1990 but closed in 2006 with loss off 50 jobs. The office block was granted listed stays in 2007, then it was later added to the register of buildings at risk in 2011.

I really wanted a picture of the admin block from the outside, but the weather put paid to that. so starting with factory floor.

Those stairs are a thing of beauty. This community does seem to have an admiration for beautiful stairs and staircases, and I'm right there too.

Some nice features in their mate. I like the metal framework on the top floor. The old-style lifts are always nice too :thumb

Yeah mate I would have liked to have stayed longer. I was on the way home and cold and wet. Been better in nicer light.
