A shot that I took ages ago
A Brief history
The New Brighton Lighthouse was originally known as Perch Rock Lighthouse and construction began in 1827 however Since 1 October 1973 it has been redundant and has been little visited due to its precarious high door and sinking sands that surround her, for this same reason it is unlikely to be made use of in the future but she still stands tall to remind us all of our proud maritime Heritage.
New Brighton Lighthouse, originally known as Perch Rock Lighthouse after the navigation hazard that it marks, The tower rises 90ft above the rock, the first half of which is solid. . A spiral staircase leads to the keepers' accommodation consisting of a galley/kitchen, a bathroom, a living room and a bedroom and then up to the lamp room.
The usual video with some spongebob sea shanty songs..shakey but well worth a watch and if you do watch it just try and get the tune out of your head...you wont

the Living room
see the table cut to fit around the inside pillar
cast iron fire
Sleepy byes, three bunks with built in wardrobes but only two bunks were ever used
it really was quite something and I would love to stay in the lighthouse overnight
Looking out towards the mersey bar, you can see how thick the walls are
The lamp room and the mechanism that turned the lamp can be seen in the cabinet
That clockwork mechanism complete with winder
The lamp room glass
Lamp room roof
from the walkway looking toward the Fort were the guy lives

looking down from the top
Thanks for looking
