The house was found in roughly 1530s according to a plaque that they discovered in the house in 1996. It was originally called Noctorn manner and was owned by Thomas Wimbishe. the house was reconstructed in the late 17th century by sir William Ellis by adding on extension the existing property and renaming it Noctorn Hall. it was then mostly destroyed by a fire in 1834. the building that we now know today was constructed by the first earl of Ripon in 1841. it was taken over in the 1940s by the army due to the second world war. sometime after 1942 it was then taken over again by the air ministry and turned into an RAF hospital until its closure in 1983. at some point after this in the 1980s Noctorn hall and the cottages around it was purchased by Torrie Richardson so that the cottages could be sold so that Noctorn hall could be turned into a residential home. the business was then taken over by his son in the early 1990s. after this the business quickly went down hill sometime in the mid 1990s and had to be sold to Leda properties of oxford along with the hospital site. in 1996 the house was r-examined and found to contain some of the original parts from the manor including the plaque that I have previously mentioned at the start of the report. in the early hours of October the 24th a fire started again in noctorn hall and reduced it to what we know now.
