Hi again all,
We've been looking around this sight for a few years, wondering if it was still possible to get in. The other night we decided to have a better a look and to our delight, we gained access (Sort of)
After getting into the darkness and going through a few doors we thought there was no access to the main cinema from where we were and figured we'de climb out... But me being a nosy F****er I found it... And as written in other posts, it was certainly like something out of the great escape!
So climbing through dust and rubble, it opened out into a Huge room, do dark you could see your hand infront of ur face... Then we flick on the torch and waaaaaw! Such a massive room, but so quiet it was almost beautiful!
:
We were armed with head lamps and a 2 million candle torch... But it still wasn't enough light to get any good shots...
The buildings still in reasonable shape and well worth the explore, seats, screens, massive Dolby speakers, sweet stands, projectors, as if one day thy just up n left.
As some of you already know it was opened in 1960 and closed again in 2005 as it could not keep up with the new giant screens popping up in surrounding areas... It's also riddled with asbestos so breathing masks are a good help (but not 100% effective)
Anyway, as the power no longer works most of my shots are quite dark but I'll share what ones we do have.
...Ide say having a DVD player in a cinema is kinda cheating!
...wouldn't mind having these Dolby Beasts at home
Yeh so I got a little trigger happy with the camera... Really need to invest in a proper one.
Anyway, we tried to get some different shots, especially the ones in the rafters, we havnt seen any from up there before.
Hope it's been a good read for you.
Thanks for looking
