Report - Odeon / Paramount Cinema, Manchester, July 2016

I notice this last week, didnt have time to wait until contractors clock off re train
so did a quick recee & let @ACID- REFLUX & @Coolboyslim know the current situation.
Then sort of forgot about it until I receive contact off @ACID- REFLUX & @Coolboyslim ,
saying @Reich had managed access.
I got a few details & came straight to Manchester on the first available train,
meeting with the rest at MacDonalds.

Odeon / paramount Cinema by stranton
visited with @ACID- REFLUX @Coolboyslim @Vulex @Reich @GRONK & @The Man In Black

Built during 1929 & opened on 16th October 1930 as the Paramount cinema,
designed by Frank Verity & S Beverley for the Paramount film company.
Bought by Oscar Deutsch as part of the Odeon theatres in November 1939 & became the Odeon in 1940,
it was converted to 2 screens in 1973, 3 screens in 1979 & 7 screens on 8th May 1992.
The facade is made of Portland stone while the sides are made of brick,
the foyer & auditorium are decorated in a baroque style while the latter has a proscenium arch seating 2920.
closed in September 2004,
then occasionally used as a chapel
currently in the process of being demo'd.

Well done if this is still the same access as the first flurry of visits! There was always high hopes for Odeon and it took a few ideas to get in initially.

Please stop using lights on rooftops, man.

Well you"ve certainly covered this pile of comprehensively young man

Didn"t like this place at all & i usually like Cinemas. Just wish i"d seen certain individuals failing the access : It would have made the trip worthwhile
