OK, please be gentle with me -tried to follow the rules, but probably missed something.
Visited 1st October 2011, with a group of folks from a photography training company. Not sure if I'm allowed to give the name, so I won't.
Some background (from the website):
"This is Britain's finest Victorian Water Works and the only one in the Midlands to be preserved as a complete working water pumping station. Papplewick Pumping Station was built between 1882 - 1884 to supplement the water supply for the growing city of Nottingham.
In the main building there are two massive beam pumping engines, thought to be the last built by the famous firm of James Watt & Co. of Soho Works, Birmingham and London."
If you love Victorian buildings, or big lumps of oily machinery, this place is for you. Anyway, pictures:
The Cooling pond
That's what I call a front door.......
The main hall, one engine each side
Takes a lot of hammers to keep this lot running
The light was tricky at times, as the sun was bright through the windows, but I did me best.
Enjoy!
Phil
