This abandoned sanatorium or bath house was built between 1911 and 1914 and opened in 1915.

The treatments here were not only water based but various forms of electrotherapy were taken place here too. This was not an asylum and all the treatments were part of the sevices available.

After the war construction was completed and there were a number of new editions including compressed air cabinets. Patients breathed in air at extreme pressures. This aided to the treatment of upper respiratory diseases, in which Băile Govora gained a renowned reputation.

Again with the spa towns communism put a stop to the tourism and the resorts began to struggle. The town seems to be beginning to grow again and the large grand hotel has undergone renovations and seems to be quite popular. There are plans for a spa hotel here from a private developer.
