Report - Pirates Cave (Blackhall Rocks) Aug 02 REPORT-INFO WANTED

AUGUST 2012 Located at Blackhall Rocks County Durham in the cliff face, always wanted to climb up and venture in so one day i did. Dont know much about this cave. you can clearly tell its man made. Its nicknamed "PIRATES CAVE" or "Smuggerlers Cave". This is my first report so appolagise if it sloppy

As you can see it gets really low by gaugin of my boot

was expecting it opening to a room or something .....not a dead end

RE: Pirates Cave Blackhall Rocks.
I was born and lived in a village 2 mile away called Monk Hesleden, where there was an old Norman Church that was supposed to be linked by a tunnel to, what we called Smugglers Cave, Blackhall Rocks. This tale was well known by the local community, unfortunately the church (St Marys I believe) was demolished in the earlly 1960s, the bell from the church went to Holy Island.
