Visited a couple of days ago with 'scrl' and after getting in, it turned out to be a pretty good first explore for us both. Hopefully his report isn't to similar to mine. The house which since it was built in 1550 has served as a family home to the Bampfylde family, a girls school and more recently an NHS hospital, is now currently being restored. It was abandoned in 1987 after an arson attack until 2000 when the Poltimore house trust was set up to restore the building. Work has been slow at the house due to funding and asbestos in the newer parts of the house.

Poltimore house is sometimes open for visiting days, but only open to a few select downstairs rooms and often with lots of people also taking pictures. Inside much of the furnishings and interesting stuff has been removed but the occasional bathtub or fireplace still remains.Entry wasn't easy because of the 8ft metal wall surrounding the entire place, after some ninja skills we were in.
