Ponteland ROC Post

Opened 1962
Closed 1991

I first visited this post 4 years ago and since then nothing much has changed.
The post remains Open and in quite a poor condition internally. It's fire damaged, very messy and has graffiti all over the walls.

The condition externally is surprisingly good, considering the level of exposure it's had to yobs. All of the surface structures remain intact and in very good condition, the hatch is in good condition and works well, although it is missing the locking mechanism.

It would probably be in a better condition if there wasn't a public footpath running right alongside it.

I would of liked to have seen it before it was damaged, It used to be one of the best in the area. The graffiti date on the wall looks as though it says 29.3.11? I'm sure my orginal visit was only a few months after that.

It was a bit of a mess anyway off kids playing in when we first went but was fine other than that.
Iv had a look through an album on Facebook with pics of most of the bunkers Iv visited and the earliest ones aren't very good quality and I mustn't have started uploading them for ages because I uploaded pics from 3 or 4 bunkers that I had visited over the winter - this one included in April 2012
These are some of the pics from what was our second or third visit to Ponteland roc post

visit to Ponteland roc.

It didn't look too bad back then! The fire damage is what ruins it, the graffiti and mess isn't that bad considering how much worse it got since. I like that aeroplane snap :)

Yeah it's the smell and the residue off the smoke that's a problem. We opened up all the ventilation last summer or the summer before and haven't been back since.

I like that photo too mate thanks. It all came together that night - timing, scenery and a bit of action

It's the same allover unfortunately. Iv been to some that have been purely destroyed and others that are in really good condition with lots of their equipment still there and evidence that people visit them fairly regularly. Not everyone is bad
