The Communications bunker for the Rotor Sector Operations Centre at RAF Longley Lane was built during WW2 within the grounds of RAF Barton Hall which was No 9 Group Fighter Command HQ and ROC North West Area HQ between 1941-1953. The bunker housed all the communications equipment for the SOC (radio, telephone, teleprinter etc.) feeding into the filter room and the ‘ops’ block. In the Rotor period the bunker complex was renamed RAF Longley Lane while Barton Hall itself became a CAA training school. RAF Barton Hall is now fully demolished but the filter room and ops block are still standing although both occupied and re-used.

This place is located on private farmland and seems to be used for storage, its close to the farmhouse and quite overlooked. There's a mix of modern farming equipment and a lot of junk. The bunker itself is full of rubbish and a bit of a nightmare to look around and photograph but has a few cool original features.
