A good night out with @obscurity to see the once legendary Westcliff section of the Ramsgate tunnels. It's become somewhat of a popular location in the recent months due to easy access, that was until the local council finally did something about it.

History
The Westcliffe section of the Ramsgate tunnels consists of 3 sections and goes directly under Ramsgate town. It had 11 entrances when it was in use, all located within an 5 minute walk of most local residents.
In more recent time it was used to run drainage pipes through, which means that the height of the tunnels is much lower than it would have originally been due to a 6 foot diameter pipe running along nearly the entire length of some sections.

The Explore
This was a nice easy one, almost too easy in ways. Unfortunately it was too easy, and therefore got far too much traffic than it should have. As a result it got sealed a couple weeks later. The tunnel network runs for a few miles and some section are quite low. We managed to get to the 'Hospital section' with the help of some waders, to get through a couple foot of standing water and mud. There isn't really too much left in here, apart from some nice original signage and drawings on the wall from the Wartime.

A nice set of tunnels with varying construction techniques. There is also access to some of the nearby drainage system which was pretty interesting.

Hospital sections just that little bit cleaner and the slopes in stead of steps leading up which was to wheel the trolleys down makes a change in these shelters

I know part of the Ramsgate tunnel system is now some sort of heritage project/museum, but I'm going to assume these bits aren't included, and probably won't be.
Interesting to see the many different construction types.
