Tried out the my new drone at this old site. It offered up a different perspective on the remains of the ROF factory site. It also presented its own problems being close to a trio of prisons. Despite demolition being planned for August 2015, the site lingers on.

Martyn, Excellent pictures. Don't suppose you managed to get a picture of the pool? It's about 280 yards south of where the entrance was and along side Cat & Kittens Lane. Looks like two pools but the one on the right was a cooling tank.

Hi Martyn. My father Samuel Morris worked there up until 1987, when he retired. He told me there was an underground part?

Pominoz. I worked there over 20 years. I regularly got a roasting (got told off) for walking around during my lunch breaks. I honestly never saw even a clue that there could be anything 'underground'. There were lots of rumours flying around Featherstone village about underground stuff too. That said of course, how many 'secret' underground bunkers are there dotted around the country? Still great looking at these pictures of the old place..and I'd still love to see a pic of the fishing pool. Guess it's overgrown now. Regards to your dad, I may have known him back in the day.

@Luke vaughan This isn't a tourist information site so stop asking. Add some content, post some reports and people might help you, otherwise just Google it, it's not hard.

Visited last week (on foot) and what a fantastic place to discover. Took lots of photo's from a ground perspective and will get round to uploading them soon. Its a real treasure trove and easy to access.....a few kids on motorcycles when I was there, but they didn't bother me nor I them. Will be going back again in the near future for another look around as I didn't cover the whole area, its quite vast.

I worked on the site for over 20 years from 1968. It's over 3 miles around the perimeter as it was back then. I'm surprised but pleased the place hasn't been totally wiped out (yet). You should find it an interesting stroll around but sadly I think anything 'really interesting' has been removed...if you know what I mean :-) There are a couple of vids on YT worth a look too. Happy hunting.

Straight walk in bud, when I was last there there was a guy in his 70s walking his dog around the place.

If you park by the DVSA test site, past the prison, there a little 'lay-by/recess'...just walk over the earth mound & fly tipped rubbish and youre in. Great place to explore, just be warned there is alot of asbestos lying around.
