This is my first post so i am guessing ill be down the pit of despair very shortly as this all seems quite strict, and with good reason.
My camera is far from professional and matches my photography skills mediocre at best. Where I lack in professionalism I make up for in enthusiasm so constructive criticism is always appreciated!
The site Visited was Rosaleen Hospital (20/09/12)
Known originally as the Midlothian and Peebles District Asylum, it opened in 1874 to serve the landward parishes of Edinburgh and Midlothian. It became known as Rosslynlee because of its proximity to the local railway station. In 1948 it became part of the Board of Management of the Royal Edinburgh Asylum and Associated Hospitals under the South Eastern Hospital Board.
I have been exploring for about 10 years now and it was a natural progression from my skateboarding days when we used abandoned factory's to build ramps. I had no idea about this web site and was a solo explorer until I met alike minded friend who told me about Rosslynlee Hospital. It was the police who told me about this web site while questioning us about our reasons for being there (at last they were good for something)
So now I know I am not alone I would like to say hello to everyone and wish you all well, show you pics of our day out and also warn everyone that Rosslynlee Hospitals security is extremely tight!
Cameras and motion detectors are everywhere and within half an hour or so we were met by security along with 8 police giving us the usual heavy handed stuff. A bit of good cop bad cop, names taken, searched and threatened with all sorts of charges. However once they were satisfied that we were suitably sorry for dragging them away from their doughnuts they escorted us off the premises and told us not to come back... One of them even wagged a finger!
Thanks for looking!
