First floor:
Telephones, gents ready made suits, shirts, suits, ties, hats, underwear, and shoes. Going up...
Second floor:
Carpets, travel goods, and bedding, materials, soft furnishings, restaurants, and ties. Going down...
First floor:
Telephones, gents ready made suits, shirts, suits, ties, hats. Going down...
This beautiful art deco building looms over the street, amongst back-street car washes and rapey alleyways. We went on the Woolwich Ferry for the craic even though it was pretty pointless on a Sunday. We enjoyed it
Since we were in London for the day, we decided to have a look at this place to see if it was still doable. Inside, there are grand staircases, secret staircases and damn right disgusting staircases. At the top of the building, the wood-panelled big cat's office is still there, complete with a balcony looking over the river.
The rest of the building is pretty trashed but parts of its original charm still remain. The escalators are still in there but they are more like the "Les Escalier du Mort" now.
