It's not just cups and saucers that were made in stoke. Most,if not all of the sanitary ceramics came from the potteries too.

This works was once part of the Royal Doulton empire, later becoming Shires Bathrooms. I'm sure most of the people on this forum have relieved themselves on a shires before. I have a shires toilet in my bathroom...

The works closed three years ago, but oddly all the electricity is still on, along with the lights, fans and other machinery. And my old man has a go at me for leaving the shed light on:rolleyes:

As well as all the machinery, every mould and pattern is still inside. All th moulds have been smashed for some reason, to prevent them being used or copied perhaps?

The other thing I enjoyed was seeing robots. I think were going to see more and more of what was once the future, as more time passes and these things get older and less valuable.
